Every year my family purchases a new Christmas Ornament for the tree. It has the year and our names on it. I am such a fan of tradition – and it’s never too late to start this one at your house.
For 2013, RobinJoysNest.Etsy.com sent us her popular Family Tree ornament. Each ornament is hand painted on wood, with family member details personalized for a custom and classic feel.
I don’t have my tree up yet, so I can’t display it for the full effect. But it is large enough to hold a big family! It measures approximately 9″ x 7″, two “boxes” on the bottom to have the family name and year on it, and then the faces and names of the family within the tree.
The faces of the family is the fun part. You can decide how many to add, show off notable facial features (glasses, hair style, facial hair) and even include pets.
I had 6 faces included on my tree for 2013 – my husband, me, my boys and my dogs. For my husband I chose Light Brown Hair, Mustache and Goatee. For me, I chose Dark Brown Hair. One son I chose Light Brown Hair and Bangs, and the other Light Brown Hair and Straight. Finally, for the dogs I gave one Pointy Ears and Reddish Brown and the other Floppy Ears and Brown. She included a looped golden string to hang my personalized ornament.
